Ok, good news and bad news….Good news is that anyone with a marijuana recommendation may start a member based non-profit marijuana collective….Bad news, is that “vendors” come from the for-profit business world. Good news, is that you cultivate marijuana for patients use, and you may contribute your cultivated marijuana to the collective you’re a member of and get a reimbursement for all out of pocket expenses….Bad news, you cannot be a vendor and “sell” marijuana to collectives. Why??? Ok, lets look up the definition of the word “Vendor”:
ven·dor/ˈvendər/
Noun:
1. A person or company offering something for sale, esp. a trader in the street: “an Italian ice cream vendor”.
Synonyms:
seller – salesman – vender – salesclerk – shop assistant
Ok, since marijuana sales are illegal under state and federal law and marijuana collectives are supposed to be non-profit…what is it that people are exactly vending?? Marijuana?? Isn’t that illegal??
It sure is. So, the next time you hear about some one coming to your collective acting as vendor be very very careful of that person, they might be trying to get you to admit guilt of selling marijuana.

21 U.S.C.S. § 841 (in pertinent part):
(a) Unlawful acts. Except as authorized by this title, it shall be unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally –
(1) to manufacture, distribute, or dispense, or possess with intent to manufacture, distribute, or
dispense, a controlled substance; or
(2) to create, distribute, or dispense, or possess with intent to distribute or dispense, a counterfeit
substance.
