OCEANSIDE — On Wednesday the Oceanside City Council voted 4-1 to draft a resolution to oppose Proposition 64, which allows statewide recreational use of marijuana. Earlier in the year the City Council passed an ordinance to allow delivery of medical marijuana from licensed dispensaries outside the city. Mayor Jim Wood explained the difference in the city’s point of view on uses. “We supported medical marijuana, but we’re not open to recreational use statewide,” Wood said.

UPLAND >> A pathway for a total ban of marijuana-related activities in the city has been set and could be rubber stamped by the council as soon as next month. Upland’s Planning Commission voted 6-1 Wednesday night in favor of the total ban. Commissioner Shelly Verrinder was the lone dissenting vote. With the commission signing off on the ordinance the total ban is now set to be review by the City Council, which doesn’t meet

Signal Hill voters may be deciding whether to allow medical marijuana dispensaries after a petition drive similar to one in Long Beach. Except the Signal Hill proposition won’t be on the ballot — if it qualifies — until next March. A Long Beach ballot initiative to allow medical marijuana dispensaries, along with a second marijuana taxation initiative, have qualified for the Nov. 8 general election ballot. By John Schroyer Significant changes are on the way for Los Angeles’ sprawling, largely unregulated medical marijuana industry. City lawmakers are expected to place a measure on the local ballot next year to reform existing rules and create a new regulatory framework for the MMJ industry.
