The House just voted to protect medical marijuana patients from federal interference

 The US House of Representatives late Thursday passed a measure that would prohibit the federal government from interfering with states’ medical marijuana laws. The bill is the first time in history that any chamber of Congress has acted to protect medical marijuana businesses and users. It also got bipartisan support: 170 Democrats and 49 Republicans voted in favor of the bill. Federal tax dollars will no longer be wasted arresting seriously ill medical marijuana patients

The D.C. Department of Health selected six companies that will soon be eligible to cultivate medical marijuana in the District. The announcement was made on Friday, after a lengthy selection process reviewed by a six-member panel and input from Advisory Neighborhood Commission members. A tentative opinion was issued recently by the State of California’s 4th District Court of Appeals in the case of City of Riverside vs. Inland Empire Patients Health and Wellness Center… and the Court’s opinion is not the least bit favorable toward Medicinal Cannabis Dispensaries (MCDs) statewide. The Court has tentatively concluded that under existing state laws, cities and counties can ban collectives under their zoning ordinances.
